LETTER TO SHARON

16TH May,2007

Sharon dear,

I acknowledge the receipt of your mails, the contents were explicit, i mean clearly understood. However, i apologize for my delay in replying, it was owing to unavoidable circumstances which i could not easily surmount. Well, you're reading a quite comprehensive one from me now.

Frankly speaking, i must say that i admire your manner of approach towards everything. In recent times, i noticed your outstanding thoughtfulness, and i appreciate that. May be am fine or not.

You'd asked me blandly in your mail to give you a 'lowdown' of happenings in 9aija. Sharon, presently we're awaiting the verdicts of the electoral tribunals and also the preparations are in top gear towards the May 29 swearing-in ceremony for Yar'Adua (the product of sham they called elections). Unfortunately, this is the tragedy of Nigeria's democracy. Those to whom we entrust our fate do not belive in rules and procedures, due process is strange to them, they lack confidence both in themselves and the system. They cherish impunity, take the people for granted and glorify the trampling on the rights and freedom of the people. How else, can i xplain what happened on the 14th & 21st April? You'd xpect elections to be a period of glamour & funfare for the govt & the people. But, in the last elections 'twas a period of warfare,as if Armaeddon was about to happen. Nigeria & its people were placed under siege with fierce-looking soldiers adorning our streets. Even the aftermath of the elections was more traumatizing as the mandates of the people were effortlessly stolen by the strong & powerful among us.

The situation in Ondo state was very despicable, deplorable and regrettable as the events predicating the confusion were clearly predictable, avoidable & unnecessary, if only justice and fair play had been allowed to rule the polls.

It's obvious that 2007 would be continuation of 1999, not a departure from it because this is the replacement of the illegitimate progenitor with this equally illegitimate scion.

Oh baby, i'm not celebrating. It's now am even considering leaving the country. You may find it unbelievable that since graduation am yet to secure a job in Nigeria. Our future is truly pregnant. Baba Obasanjo never refurbished any of our ailng refineries he was moaning about, and Nigeria seems to be the only oil xporting country xporting its crude they produced leaving none to be refined for domestic consumption. This evil trend has made the "Boys" millionaires by the minute, who usually import refined petroleum products into the country. And all those money pumped into power sector during the 8yrs of what i would describe as a "misrule", went into waste as the usual blackout you witnessed when you were here still persists.

Presently, armed robbers & cultists roam the steets freely even in broad daylight, unchallenged by the ill-equipped police force, militant youths are having a field day as they kidnap foreigners including the ill-equipped soldiers in the Niger-Delta while Obasanjo & his cohorts are busy pursuing his or "their" "percieved" foes. At the end, he made good his promise of "DO OR DIE" election by foisting on us his chosen godsons. That's that.....

Sharon, i really miss u. But thank God that your programme is coming to a close in Paris. Sorry, the conservative won the French elections. And it was somewhat a credible one compared to Nigeria's. Obviously, you know that i have nothing against you. Yeah! absolutely nothing. Like u said in one of your mails, "it's probably scoundrels with dwarfed mentalities, in fact, i'll add that persons with untamed & uncultured sense of reasoning are up to no good, as persons in a conniving course per se, whom have been denied my attention one way or the other are very uncomfortable with YOU & I. I never give 2 fucks, okay, they can rot.

Like i said earlier, i've nothing, i mean nothing against you, but for the main time, i want to be without "girls wahala". I'm embarking on a female gender intolerance cos i've got responsibilities beyond my level, which is my priority now. I've got to focus on it for me to be able to handle it properly. When i've fully adjusted, time would tell the next step, okay. The point about you girls is that today you're fantastic and real tommorrow you're fading. I dont see any sense in that. If the case is always like that, it's going to take you time to prove & convince me that this case is different.

I've got so much to say, but i've just got to drop. It's already past midnight. Thanks a whole lot. So long ! Sharon.

Kind regards,
Tayo.
